Why I like paper currency.
Compared with on-line payment systems, transacting in paper currency is beautiful.
Think of it, when I hand you a dollar you actually have a dollar. If I offer you one dollar and you accept it, it’s likely you trust the little green bills (isn’t it great they are “green” too?) or you might not accept it.
When I hand you a dollar, it costs us nothing—its free. I like truely free things. Compare that with on-line payments. Is there an on-line payment system out there that is really free?
I also like the fact that a dollar is unique. Yes, it’s unique. Unlike coins, the paper stuff is serialized. Is it true then that there is only one one with the serial number F00615126G? We’ll I think that’s the idea; but, may be there is two ones, F00615126G, if so, is one a fake?
Is it fair to say that a dollar is indivisible (the word ‘indivisible’ takes me to the statement: “indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”). It feels like a dollar can be converted and combined but not divided. Sure, it can be converted into four quarters or 10 dimes; but, in a real sense, is that divisible? It can also be combined with other paper currency but that doesn’t seem divisible either.
So, leave a comment and let me know why you prefer paper over all the other choices in payments.
